Welcome to The LAGRANT Foundation Blog

TLF 2020 Undergraduate Scholarship Recipient Donnie Minor
My name is Donnie Minor Jr. and I am a Sophomore at Central Michigan University pursuing my degree in Communications receiving a minor in Advertising and Leadership.  I am pursuing these degrees because I enjoy creating a story line through digital media and images.  I ultimately am interested in working in the sports industry combining my love for sports with my communication/advertising degree.

I first heard about TLF through a close friend that went to my high school. I wanted to apply for the scholarship so I could learn more about the industry and the many opportunities the LAGRANT foundation represents.  I believe in TLF’s mission because of how the organization gives minorities a chance to excel and assist with closing the “gap” pertaining to minorities in this field.   By receiving this scholarship,  it will assist me in paying for my college expenses  and potentially allow me to study abroad to obtain international experiences.
Once I earn my degree, I plan to work in sports advertising that will eventually lead to an Advertising Technologist or Senior Advertising Director responsible for the promotion of sporting events and athletes.   Being able to combine advertising with my love for sports is something I have always wanted to pursue, and I really enjoy.  Bringing diversity into my field of work is important because it allows me to adequately represent the way minorities are seen in the media.
Beyond receiving this scholarship, I want to continue to stay involved with TLF because I would like to give back and help someone as I have been assisted.  I think the work TLF is doing is important because it is a unique foundation that assist with increasing the number of minorities in which we are underrepresented in the areas of marketing, public relations and advertising.
