My interest in public relations is undeviatingly correlated with my internship experience through the Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project (CLYLP). I had the ability to operate under the Program Manager, Board Members on distinct projects encompassing in website content, social media campaigns, press releases, and alumni spotlights. Furthermore, I've had the opportunity to serve as an AVID Tutor at San Jacinto High School and interned for Congressman Raul Ruiz. Through involving myself in CLYLP and as an AVID Tutor, I have been able to expose local high school students, community college students, and friends to pursue career paths in marketing/public relations.
I discovered The LAGRANT Foundation (TLF) through the Ultimate Scholarship Book 2020. When I observed TLF's mission to raise the number of ethnic minorities in advertising and marketing through mentorship, scholarships, and job openings, I knew I should apply. Since America is a changing marketplace, it's imperative that all individuals from various socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds must be able to represent themselves through different mediums. I am gratified that TLF is at the forefront of contributing to this endeavor. Fortunately, this scholarship will satisfy my tuition and books for my first quarter as a UCR student. Once obtaining my degree, I desire to stay engaged and advocate to promote TLF's resources to the LatinX community.
I want to acknowledge The LAGRANT Foundation, CLYLP, and my family for encouraging my academic and career endeavors.
