TLF 2020 Undergraduate Scholarship Recipient Jennifer Gray
My name is Jennifer Gray and I am currently a student at the University of Houston, where I am pursuing my degree in Technology Leadership Innovation Management. I wanted to get my degree in Technology Leadership Innovation Management because I possess an eagerness and a growing knowledge and skillset for developing and managing organizations and teams to solve problems and achieve satisfying results. So far, pursuing this degree has enabled me to focus on building necessary foundational leadership skills in technology and marketing subject matter expertise, communication and branding.

I first heard about TLF through the MANDEF scholarship newsletter. I wanted to apply to the scholarship because I felt that I could not only benefit from it financially, but also become a part of the TLF family and one day give back, in return. I believe in TLF’s mission because of the essential focus that the organization places on helping minority students enter undiversified professions through providing scholarships, career and professional development workshops, internships, and mentorship programs. With this scholarship, I am now able to cover a portion of tuition costs.

Once I earn my degree, I hope to cultivate a successful career in both the fields of Marketing Branding and Technology and Public Relations within the tech space. I want to pursue these goals because I’d like to integrate skills of technology, creativity, project management, marketing, and writing into one to create valuable outcomes. Bringing diversity into my field of work is important because it empowers the new generation of professionals to achieve greatness.

Beyond receiving the scholarship, I want to continue to stay involved with TLF because of the mentorship, internship, and job placement programs that the organization offers. I think the work TLF is doing is important because it uplifts minority students to pursue their dreams.
