Welcome to The LAGRANT Foundation Blog

TLF 2020 Undergraduate Scholarship Recipient Naiima Miller
My name is Naiima Miller and I am currently a sophomore at Howard University in Washington, D.C., where I am pursuing my degree in marketing. I chose to study marketing because I love analyzing how people think and how that leads them to consume.

I first heard about the LAGRANT Foundation through one of the directors in the School of Business. I wanted to apply to the scholarship because I saw that it wasn’t just a check, but it was a network dedicated to providing students with aide not only in school but in their careers. I saw a group of people that wanted to help diversify the marketing field, which is very important to me, and I realized that their mission was something I wanted to be a part of. As a result of earning this scholarship, I will be able to focus on my education more with less stress of financing it.

Once I earn my degree, I hope to become the marketing director of a retail company where I can bridge my love of fashion and business. Bringing diversity into my future field of work is important because I believe that clothing brands need more representation on both the company side as well as their models and PR campaigns. Fashion has made huge strides in terms of diversity, but I feel like there is a lot more that needs to be done.

Beyond receiving this scholarship, I want to stay involved with TLF because they are true to their mission and purpose. I believe that the work TLF does is promising and will lead to great achievements.

I would like to thank the scholarship committee as well as the entire foundation for the work that they do and how they continue to create promising careers for students.
