I first heard about TLF in one of my advertising courses. Juan-Carlos Molleda came into my class to share his journey and career path. He talked about his involvement with TLF and the opportunities the foundation provided for students of color. I knew then that I wanted to be part of the TLF family. I wanted to join a community that will motivate me to create change.
I believe in TLF’s mission because I want to see more representation of women and people of color in the media. We bring our stories and experiences to the field; only we know how to guide our story.
After college, I hope to become a strategist or designer and merge my passion for art with my mission to change the narrative of women and POC in the media. Bringing diversity into my field of work is important because the start of change begins with having more women and POC in the work-streams of advertising.
With this scholarship, I am empowered to enter the world of advertising. I’m grateful for the career and professional development opportunities and mentorship that will help me grow in this constantly changing industry.
I want to continue to stay involved because I believe in the values and work TLF is doing. It’s important to empower students of color and encourage them to pursue their passion and overcome imposter syndrome.
Thank you to everyone at TLF for investing in my future and seeing the potential in me. It means everything to me.
