TLF 2020 Undergraduate Scholarship Recipient Sherry Chen
My name is Sherry Chen and I am currently a junior student at Baruch College, where I am pursuing my degree in marketing and a double minor in graphic design and interdisciplinary studies of New York City. I wanted to get my degree in marketing because it encompasses a combination of creativity-thinking, strategic analysis, and industrial research. It’s a challenging yet gratifying field because it pushes me to my highest potential from campaign proposals to content creation.

I first heard about TLF through the Macaulay Honors career newsletter. I wanted to apply for the scholarship because it aligns perfectly with my career aspiration. I believe in TLF’s mission because I want to increase awareness about diversity and inclusion in my community and inspire other Asian Americans to pursue their careers in marketing. With this scholarship, I am now able to fund my academic expenses to study abroad in Singapore and attend various conferences.

Once I earn my degree, I hope to continue to build my leadership and foster my commitment to marketing by telling compelling stories. I want to pursue these goals because I want to ensure that ethnic minorities have more opportunities to contribute to this field. Bringing diversity into my field of work is important because it is essential to combat underrepresentation and have everyone’s voice be heard.

Beyond receiving the scholarship, I want to continue to stay involved with TLF because I want to give back to this community and provide resources to other students. I think the work TLF is doing is important because it changes the marketing landscape and inspires a new generation of marketers.

Once again, thank you so much for the organization's help and support. TLF has truly made an ever-lasting impact on my college journey and career path.
