TLF 2020 Undergraduate Scholarship Recipient William Sullivan
My name is William Sullivan and I am currently a rising Junior at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where I am pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a Marketing emphasis. During high school, I took both a Marketing and Entrepreneurship course where I realized I could combine my creativity and business mindset, which led me to pursue a degree in Business Marketing.

I first heard about TLF through a former recipient sharing their experience on LinkedIn. I wanted to apply to the scholarship because TLF’s mission directly aligned with the kind of continued membership and network I have longed for. With this scholarship, I am now able to increase my knowledge of marketing fields, while increasing my skills through coursework, travel, and other related programs.

Once I earn my degree, I hope to have a career as an Account Executive at an advertising firm or have a marketing role at a mid-size company. Pursuing those goals are important to me because by being in those spaces, I will be able to help someone like me in the future. Bringing diversity into my field of work is important because having people with different backgrounds and cultural heritage brings unique perspectives and ideas to the table.

Beyond receiving the scholarship, I want to stay involved with TLF because it is extremely important to have a network of like-minded individuals that have shared experiences. The work TLF is doing is important because having that representation and support system will continue to inspire students to pursue careers in marketing, advertising, and public relations.

I would like to thank my family for pouring unconditional love, determination, and support into my life. My peers for constantly challenging me to become a better version of myself each day. As well as my mentors and professors for inspiring me to continue my work and attain my goals.
